Learning through the use of a TV

Room 1 has a new TV to aid our learning.

Today we had our poem on the TV and highlighted the rhyming words in green. Then we brainstormed words to rhyme with game and wrote these beside it (yellow). We also looked at the contraction I'm (red) and discovered it means the same as I am.

During discovery some of the class went on Reading Eggs which was connected to the TV. Ethan, Cole, Skylah, James and Matty all worked together to spell out words and make sentences.

Free time in the pool!

We are so lucky at Brightwater School to have our own swimming pool. We get to go swimming every day after lunch with Room 2. We have swimming lessons Monday-Thursday and then on Friday we get a chance for free time! Check out some of the photos of us having fun in the pool!

Buddy Class

This year Room 1 are super lucky to have Room 11 as our buddy class.

Today Room 11 came into our class and helped us with our spelling tests, then we read stories to each other and showed them our work around the room.

We had lots of fun with the big kids and can't wait for buddy class time next week.

Caleb's Seaweed

In the weekend I went on my boat and I caught a shark and I went to the old whaling station. My mum caught seaweed and it is stinky.
Mum says it is the fastest growing plant in New Zealand.

Writing: In the holidays....

In the holidays I went to Pohara with Mum, Dad, Riley and Elliot. We slept in a tent. One night I slept in the little tent by myself.
Cole

In the holidays I went camping and my dad made a swing. We had fun. There was lots of grass and dirt.
Caleb

In the holidays I went to the bach for my sister Abbie’s birthday. It was at Pohara. Mum and Dad gave her a blue bike. She loved it and so did I as well. We went to the beach. I saw my friend at the beach in Pohara and I went to my next door neighbours.

In the holidays I had a zhu zhu pet called Jilly and she broke down so my dad got another zhu zhu pet called Rocko. He says “ha-ha”. He is brown. I went to Yogi Bear and it was funny.
