For our topic we have been learning to identify features of the environment. Today with Mrs Inch we looked at a New Zealand artist called Graheme Sydney. He paints lots of pictures of landscapes around New Zealand. We had a go at painting our own landscapes. We had to blend colours to make natural colours of the environment. We had to talk about the features we painted in our landscapes.

Maths, Maths, Maths!
Look at all of the clever maths children in Room 1:
The Squares put the numbers 1 to 25 in order. They then counted objects and matched the correct amount of pictures to the number. They then had to count backwards from 25. Then they practised forming numbers correctly and writing the number which comes before and after.
The Circles are learning to instantly recall groups or 'number pairs' to 5. When the top row of a tens frame is full we know that is 5 straight away without even needing to count!
The Triangles are learning to instantly recall groups or 'number pairs' to 10. They learned that 2+8 and 8+2 are the same thing. It doesn't matter which number you count first. We found it easier to start counting from the biggest number.

This game helps up practise the number pairs to 10, or we can change it to practise the pairs to 5. Click on the game to get practising!

Topic: Our Amazing Earth...
Artwork
Mrs Inch helped us create these fantastic shape people.
We had to:
Name and identify 2D shapes
Position them creatively to form a person
Identify warm and cold colours.
Colour in with crayons leaving no white spaces in either warm or cool colours
Dye the background in a warm or cool colour (opposite of what we did the person)
Our pictures are bright, bold and fantastic!
Thanks Mrs Inch!

News
We are learning to speak clearly in front of an audience. Anya, Callum R, Amy and Brookie-Lee shared their news in front of the class today and learned to record their voices on Garage Band. Listen below to hear their clear voices.

Maths: Statistics
Part of a statistical investigation involves looking at 'data' and being able to sort it.
We picked our favourite animal - this was our data.
We put them all in the middle of our circle and worked out different ways we could sort it.
Have a look at some of our clever sorting in the slideshow below.
Can you sort the animals into any other groups?

Reading Rotation
We have started our reading programme already for the term.
Mrs Robertson is impressed at how fabulous we all are at reading!
We have to follow a rotation....it was a tricky word to learn. It means we have three activities to do during reading while Mrs Robertson reads with the groups at her table. We have to look on the board to know what to change to.
There are lots of activities like the listening post, computers, games, puzzles, big books and magnetic letters!
Here are some photos of us during Reading time today.
