Art with Mrs Inch and Mrs Woodward

Mrs Robertson was away for two days last week.  Mrs Woodward was our teacher.  We read the story of the 3 Billy Goats Gruff.  We drew our own trolls, painted them, used dye on the backgrounds and made 3D eyes.  We added a speech bubble coming out of his mouth saying "Who is that trip trapping over my bridge?" We think our trolls look great!

We have been practising hard for the school cross country next week.  We drew clouds and part of the grass in pastel.  We then dyed the blue sky and green grass but we had to use 2 different shades.  Then we drew a person running side on! Eek, it was tricky, but we did a fabulous job. Mrs Inch is very clever!

Come back next week to read our stories about how we went in the cross country.

Making 20

We have been playing the dinosaur matching game. We matched up the dinosaurs so they made 20.
3 and 17 make 20.
10 and 10 make 20.
11 and 9 make 20.

One of the reading activities today for the Giraffes and Elephants was to think of different words to use instead of said.  Charlotte thought of heaps of exciting words.  Can you think of any more?
Jordan

Luke

Jordan and Luke worked super hard during reading time today so Mrs Robertson let them read their story to the class.  They put on the headphones and recorded their voices at the same time. It was fun listening back to hear if their voices were fluent and if they used expression. Click on the play button to listen to their fabulous reading of Mrs Wishy-Washy.

Maori Language Songs recorded on the iPad

Today Mrs Robertson taught us to take a video on the iPad and send them through an email.

Jordy took his own video and sent it to Mr Baldwin!!!

Then Mrs Robertson recorded us singing two of our Maori Language Songs.
The first song is a body song - similar to Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes.
The second is a command song.
We have worked very hard to learn the words and actions!

Autumn Artwork

My name is Olivia.  In Autumn the leaves start to fall off the trees. They go orange, brown, yellow and red. We made some Autumn trees.

We painted our background blue.
We mixed lots of Autumn colours.
We dotted on yellow spots, orange spots, red spots and dark orange spots with the paint.
We drew 5 leaves falling off the tree.
Then we made a brown colour and drew on the trunk using the end of the paintbrush.

Swimming Lessons

The whole junior school are super lucky!!! We get to go to the Aquatic Centre for swimming lessons every day for the next two weeks. Today was our first day.  We went with Rooms 2 and 4.  We got split into groups.  We had a lesson with the special instructors and then had a chance for free time in the wave pool and toddler pool.  Mrs Robertson was proud of how quickly we got changed and how well we listened to our instructors.

Here are some photos from Day 1.

Maths: Circles show their thinking

Today in maths the Circles had to show me how to work out two problems.  They could write or draw their thinking any way they wanted.

There were 12 buzzy bees and 3 flew away to a flower.  How many were left at the hive?

Freddy the frog had 14 stickers on his chart.  He got given 3 more at school for working super hard.  How many stickers did he have?
