The Monkeys read to the class!

Sam and Caleb are in a reading group called the Monkeys. They have been making awesome progress with their reading and yesterday they read their book to the entire class! The class thought they sounded fantastic.

Our beautiful sunflowers

Our sunflowers are colourful. We coloured them with are yellow and orange pastels. We dyed the backgrounds blue, red or green. We did them with Mrs Inch. We coloured the inside of the sunflower brown and put black dots for seeds. The stalks and leaves are green.

KiwiSports Day

Yesterday we went to KiwiSports Day at Wakefield School. There were so many different activities and we all had so much fun!!! Afterwards, we had lunch at Faulkners Bush and went for a walk up to the look out - we could see all the way to the sea!!! Here are a few photos from our fabulous day!

Giraffe's Reading Activity

The Giraffe's are learning to retell a story. As a group we chose four points from the book and wrote them in order. Kynan and Sam D drew the pictures to match. Then they took and uploaded the photo onto the blog themselves. Great stuff boys!

Pool Party

Pool Party with Room 2 on PhotoPeach

Last Friday we had a Pool Party with Room 2. We were allowed to bring anything from home. The pool was full with snorkels, flippers, blow up toys, water pistols and boogie boards. It was so much fun!

Kaitlyn's Painting Photos

We have been painting in Room 1.
We used white paint to sponge the outline of a face.
We took the face off and waited for it to dry.
We mixed two primary colours together and used the sponge to dot the background.

They look really colourful so far.
We can't wait to see what they look like when we have finished.

Red & Black Day for Canterbury

Today was Red and Black Day.

We wore red and black clothing to support the victims of the Christchurch earthquake. We all brought a gold coin donation - some people brought even more!

As a school we raised $485!!! This money will go to the schools in Christchurch to help rebuild their broken buildings.

Discovery Time

During discovery time this week we focused on working together.

Jess, Kushla and Mia made tantrix patterns.



Lots of people chose to make a boat - they floated...for a while! We found out the cardboard sinks when it gets soggy, the tin foil boats or ones with straw bases were better!





Skylah, Holly and Darby baked cookies with the play dough and made flower pots.
